a December Thursday
-took an illustrated letter to the PO to mail to a dear friend with whom I am an intermittent penpal
-walked to the cafe to meet a FB friend IRL
-took a photo of a little dog treat on the sidewalk
-had breakfast, eggnog latte, and good conversation
-went to the gallery on the lower level of the Town Hall Theatre, saw the current exhibit, and had a wonderful arty chat with Justin who works there
-walked to the bookstore to look for a particular author recently recommended Nto me by a friend (Nick Harkaway)
-walked to the library to look for the same book
-no success but as I left the library one of the librarians said, “Cinse wait, isn’t there a book on hold for you? and there was (“Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver)
-walked to the co-op for a few things — yea! my facial products on sale AND organic dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds!!!
-saw a celebrity (actress) while shopping and thought she looked so familiar and that I knew her but realized who she was — she held my gaze as I did this and then we each nodded at one another and smiled — and no I’m not telling the woman deserves peace
-thought maybe I imagined it until her just-as-famous husband walked into the store
-talked to random folks throughout the store and at the checkout — it was a senior shopping day
-talked on the phone for a flash with a good friend who is going back to her home country of China next week about talking on the phone later about a day for her to come and visit me
-walked home
-took a photo of bird poop on the sidewalk to go with the dog treat photo for something I’m planning to write
-checked my mail
-put my groceries away
-called my mother’s residence and got connected to the memory unit nurse who sat my mother in a chair in the hall to talk to me
-heard the decline in my mother’s voice but managed to truly connect with her multiple times even though it was a much shorter than usual conversation
-called my best friend to tell her about the celebrity sighting after checking online to confirm that the actress in question does have a VT residence (she and her husband also live in NYC)
-spoke with my son’s godfather to update him about my mom and some other things
-left a message for my friend from China
-heated up some leftover curry for lunch that I had made the other day
-ate the curry over a slice of Red Hen polenta bread I bought at the co-op today and watched the second half of season 2, episode 6 of “His Dark Materials”
-read a little of my current book — almost done (“In The Place Of Fallen Leaves” by Tim Pears)
-cut up most of the leftover bread and put it in the freezer — put the rest under a stainless steel bowl on the counter
-preheated the oven, cut up the cookie rolls I had wrapped and put in the fridge to chill yesterday, and made several dozen cranberry/raisin/sunflower seed pinwheels — part of a gift for my friend’s sons
-missed a call from my friend as I was transferring some cookies to a cooling rack
-called my friend back between cookie sets
-packaged cookies for the freezer, a container on my counter, and for my friend’s sons
-took one cookie down the hall and hung it on a new friend’s door
-sent her a “COOKIE alert!” text
-received a recorded call from Green Mountain Power telling me about the predicted storm
-put aside an article on Leahy from the local paper to send to my son
-cleaned up my kitchen
-used a new nailbrush to clean my gold suede shoes
-wrote this list
