A fall Tuesday Partial List
Noticed the perfect weather when I walked outside — not cold, not hot, partly sunny with glorious clouds
Went to the post office — sent the recent issue of “Edible Vermont” filled with flood stories showcasing Vermont Strong to my son, and a flower filled, fold open again and again card to my mom
Went to the library and returned a book, donated books for their sales, and found a good short story book filled with stories about strong, interesting women
Went to the resale shop and found the perfect present for my daughter-in-law’s upcoming March birthday — it was brand new with the tags still on! Had lots of chuckles with the lovely ladies who work there — They asked, “Did your mom like the clothes you picked out for her?” referring to clothes I had purchased last week.
Went to the tea shop — asked my favorite tea server to hook me up with a new tea to try — what she suggested was so good that I bought some to take home
I finished my most recent used book and then started my new library book — I also read an excellent article in the Atlantic on the current VP
Overheard parts of a nice conversation just beyond my right ear that two women were having — they were doing the opposite of talking smack about other women — lifting them up to each other
I also met a lovely tea server I didn’t know
A book about crows (“The Comfort of Crows”) snagged me from behind the front window in the bookstore — I wasn’t familiar with the writer — Margaret Renkl — The book was beautifully illustrated — the bookseller told me that Renkl’s brother does the illustrations and that Renkl writes for the NY Times
I had cookies and chocolate milk at the bakery
Went to check on the status of a still-in-the-planning-stages building party with a friend who works in a local store on Main Street — found some Halloween stuff for my son and daughter-in-law there
I also ran into an older gentleman there who I often see on the street and in a local coffee shop — I complimented him on his new-to-him shoes and helped him figure out how to make calls on his cell — he needed to learn how to get back to the phone call function
I had a great chat with my friend who works there — I told him about the sheep show I went to in Tunbridge and he told me about an artist’s studio he suggested I visit in Shoreham
I met a friend of his in the store who had moved here recently — I also met her daughter who works part-time in the library — His friend’s energy was somewhat similar to mine so we did the contact info thing to connect later
I headed back home for dinner
I checked to be sure a friend had received the recommendation I wrote for him
I started making some small drawings of people to cover my breaker box
A good day
