A Spring Sunday

Read about and interesting and very easy to masticate article on equanimity — the “fourth quality of the heart” — in the Buddhist magazine I receive.

Finished watching a Turkish movie on Netflix (“In Good Hands”).

Made a mother’s day card for a friend.

Had a great lunch.

Brought out my recycling.

Ran into the nice woman who had given me a ride to a show in Vergennes a while back.

Ran into Liam and Judy in real life for the first time today on Main Street. So nice to meet them in person.

Went for a long walk. Saw so many flowers. It smelled wonderful out there today. It felt like church.

Met Hannah who lives in town. She’s an 83-year old, native Vermonter. We went on a short walk together (after my original walk) when we saw each other as we walked through a parking lot. It was nice to be able to give her my time since my mom is so far away.

Her son has dementia. So did her father. I felt seen.

Went to the co-op to buy treats and a few groceries and ran into my friend Alice. Lots of laughing.

Saw Judy again. How nice.

Alice and I checked out with our favorite person at the co-op.

A man moved the “register closed” sign and claimed to not have realized that it wasn’t just a counter divider. Our favorite check-out person did not let him get away with it. The letters on the sign were large. The (white) man was probably used to people letting him get away with those kinds of things.

I walked home.

Had pasta and cheese, and cake and ice cream for dinner!

Tried several times today to reach my mom in her facility. When they don’t answer on weekends it usually means they’re doing activities with the residents. I’ll try again tomorrow.

A cardinal song-and-response sang with me today.

The falls were vibrantly roaring.

It was sunny. There was a breeze.

I watched “A Man Called Otto” on Netflix. I highly recommend it.
