Caring for Bedhead
Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling overwhelmed by the thought of making your bed? Do you give yourself a firm talking-to when this happens? Do you insist that you need to snap out of it and make your bed? Do you tell yourself to stop whining? To stop being a baby? To stop complaining about such a little thing? After all, it only takes a few minutes to pull up the covers and tuck things in, and it’s not as if you’re sleeping on the street, right? Or maybe you walk away from your messy bed but then feel guilty when you see it in all its undone glory later in the day. Or maybe, your inner child is upset but doesn’t know why. Maybe it’s fussy because something is eating at it. Of course it could be something small and insignificant, but that little thing may be the key that opens a door with some serious stuff hiding behind it. Maybe you don’t need a good talking-to. Maybe you need toast made with really good bread, slathered with goat cheese and fig jam. Maybe your inner child has an emotional fever and yelling at it won’t help, but giving it some attention until you figure out what’s going on will. Maybe you can make your bed while you’re thinking about this.
