most people want to go back
to the roots but take care of
what’s right here in this place
to start gently teasing apart
what has become mixed up
it will provide a way to smooth
out instead of smoothing over
everything will be put in order
with only small amounts of pain
and yes there will be losses
along the way in the basin and
maybe strewn upon the floor
what’s been lost cannot be
put back it no longer belongs
new growth will take its place
