I can see the windows
of my apartment across
the river from my table
on the cafe’s upper deck

when I was young I would
dream about arriving home
from school and finding
another version of me there

I try unsuccessfully to peer
into my apartment wondering
if I actually exist on both sides
of the river at the same time
