there’s a no man’s land
for women not yet elderly
the eyes of women who
sing society’s team songs
judge us for wearing our
hair long or our skirts short
they expect our cleavage
to stay hidden from view
as we grow closer to death
when our faces become
wrinkled and wizened
they will smile no matter
what we wear infantilizing
our existence negating
our womanhood as they
have already begun to do
