I will pass on being strapped in a chair
with one of those sci-fi devices preventing
me from blinking as I am force-fed a never
ending diet of franchise princesses dancing
mindlessly always to someone else’s tune

I’ll take the crow of consciousness over
that nonsense any day I am awake and I
prefer it that way I remind myself and you
that birds shit as well as sing and that a
good life is a rhythm of truths with a beat
much easier to dance to either fast or slow
