Today on the phone
I told my mother
I gave her ring
to my son to give
to his bride to be.
I said it was a gift
from both of us.
She was delighted.
Then she said,
Maybe I should
come up there
and ask her,
What are you
doing wearing
my clothes?
It’s a joke
my mother said.
Make sure you
tell her but tell
her I don’t mean
anything by it.
