small momentary sanities

I read a post describing the collective
breath a choir takes before they sing
I thought about how sometimes two
people breathe in before making love

I caught myself reaching for an older roll
of toilet paper instead of a newer one as
if it were fruit that might go bad and spoil
I finally squished the last elusive fruit fly

I gave myself permission to binge watch
a series filled with characters I care about
choosing to phone my mother tomorrow
instead taking care of my own needs
