some days

some days I swirl like a twig
riding the water rushing along
the road’s edge my destination
unknown joy keeping me afloat

some days I fall into the lush
beauty of young skin eating it
with my eyes remembering
when the mirror caressed me

some days small kindness fall
onto me like rose petals at a
wedding reminding me to stay
in love with my authentic self

some days I notice the small
cruelties people toss at one
another like the litter leftover
from an unsatisfying meal
