As I headed out of my building today I saw a young resident rifling through the packages in the lobby. “Are you looking for something you ordered or just looking in case there’s a package for you?” I asked. He chuckled and said that he always looks through the packages just in case someone sent him something. I confessed that I do the same thing. We laughed and I after we had wished each other a good rest of the day, I headed out the door. It made me smile to think that this random person, who I had not run into before, shared my tendency for looking for joy. It sure beats looking for trouble. At least that’s the way I look at things. There used to be an old adage that said that if you go looking for trouble you will definitely find it. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but I’ve found that in my life when I go looking for joy I almost always find it.
