I couldn’t
okay, I could have
but I didn’t
I was afraid
not to witness
but of the hate
that would rise
in me
the desire that
would grip
my being and
tell me to go
get my own
damn gun
and blow
those men
who were
and probably
still are willing
to do despicable
things back
to a state of
primordial ooze
back to a place
where maybe
they could give it
another try and
this time maybe
do and be better
