I expect you to be human
to get confused to enjoy
silly inappropriate things
to eat too much of certain
foods to have a home that
isn’t as neat as a magazine
spread to have hair that I
sometimes envy and other
times laugh aloud at to have
time but not enough energy
to love me most days and
find me annoying on others
to feel the same way about
yourself to remember hurts
you try to forget to refuse
to lie even when it’s helpful
to remember what I thought
wasn’t important enough to
remember and remind me
of it when I need you to
