this I had forgotten

I always think of my father
when I step out of the shower
because he is the one who
taught me to hold the ends
of the towel in each hand
and pull it back-and-forth to
dry the back of my body but
this morning I noticed a few
errant drops on my legs and
vividly remembered how my
mother used to always leave
a few bits of water on her
thighs as if she was granting
them the favor of riding there
