Tools for an Effed Up World

[Below is something I wrote to a friend today. I’m posting it here in case it proves useful for someone else.]

Dear ________,

The world, as you know, seems to be more fucked up than usual.

Innocents are being kidnapped, tortured, and killed. People’s latent prejudices are rising like yeast. People are becoming more polarized, scared, angry, and unreasonable. The targeted feel more vulnerable than ever. Our government is a sham. Charlatans, masquerading as religiously moral, are seeping evil from every pore.

We are invited to feel as if we don’t have the tools to survive, but we do. All the tools we’ve worked so hard to acquire still help us through our nows, our todays. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. So hold tight to all you love. Be here now. Notice and celebrate what is still the same and evolve moment by moment into what comes next for you and yours.
